Jakarta is Indonesia’s sprawling capital, a mix of gleaming malls, old-town history and a serious food and nightlife scene. It rewards visitors who plan around its geography. Getting there
Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) is the main gateway, and the airport train saves you from the worst of the traffic. It’s the country’s busiest hub by far. Plan around rush hour, cluster your plans by area, and lean on the MRT and ride-hailing. The traffic is legendary, so allow buffer time. Working out the transport early pays for itself over a few days.
